Link exchanges are great but know who you are linking to
As many of you know along with being an agent, I have also been a professional webdesigner and SEO advisor for years. With any website I preach the benefits of good link exchanges. Real Estate professionals learn early on how to network well. Every group we belong to, every activity we attend is a chance to meet people and increase our sphere of influence. The net is based on the same fundamental ideas. The more people linking to your site will not only bring you new visitors, but will also raise your site in the search engines.
Along with this though I see many mis guided link exchanges. Many times people will link to a site that contains a link on another site. Most of the time these 3 way link exchanges are to try to trick the search engines into thinking they are inbound links only. Quite often you will link to them only to find that your link disappears after a few months.
Today I got spammed with a message that read
I’ve found your website with the “reverse google pagerank
algorithm” which indicates that we both would get better google
rankings, when we exchange links.
I can only imagine the people that get this are going to be confused by it. First off there is no such thing as “reverse google pagerank algorhythm”. You have not done anything right, or wrong, it is just a cheap ploy to get your attention. Secondly the links that they are putting in to your site contain a “no follow tag” In other words the link on their site will not do you any good with the search engines. I found out from others that the spam might very well keep on coming from this one address trying to push this SEO software. I encourage you to delete any emails that you get that use this terminology
